Meet Our ChurchLoop 287 is as diverse as Lufkin, Texas, but the one thing we all share is a desire to grow and serve our Lord. If that's your desire, you'll find a home here with our family.
Loop 287 Church of Christ takes the Great Commission seriously: “Go into all the world and make disciples of every nation, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.” We believe that this is achieved not through social programs, political activist groups, or welfare organizations, but through preaching God’s Word. We are on a mission to reach the world, beginning right here in Lufkin, Texas.
You may notice our worship services look a little bit different than everyone else’s. We don’t use a rock band, strobe lights, and a smoke machine, and that all is on purpose. The Scriptures plainly talk about worship being simple (John 4:24). At the Loop, every member sings without a guitar solo getting in the way. We sing from our heart to God’s ears.
Every member is called to practice benevolence and servanthood on their own (James 1:27). Our members are some of the most charitable people in Lufkin, though they’ll most likely never talk about it (Matthew 6:1-4). For that reason, we don’t have a lot of the programs you’ll find at other institutions. Our members take care of everything, leaving the church to do what it was designed to do: spread the Gospel.
“It is a trustworthy statement: If any man aspires to the office of an overseer, it is a fine work he desires to do.”
(1 Timothy 3:1)
“…For those who have served well as deacons obtain for themselves a high standing
and great confidence in the faith that is in Christ Jesus.”
(1 Timothy 3:13)
“I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom: Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction.”
(2 Timothy 4:1-2)
