Behind the Screen

What Themes Connect “Behind the Screen” and “Six Seven”?

Both “Behind the Screen” and “Six Seven” delve into the complexities of identity and perception. By exploring the concept of six seven, they reveal how individual narratives shape our understanding of self and others. These themes intertwine, illuminating the blurred lines between reality and the personas we create.

Pornography Use Among Bible Believers

The Barna Group reported that Christians aren’t immune to the pervasive influence of porn. Just over half of practicing Christians (54%) report consuming porn with some level of frequency. Additionally, the majority of practicing Christians with a history of porn use (74%) say no one’s helping them avoid porn, despite the fact that 42 percent express a desire to change their habit. This data suggests there may be an unmet need for support within churches.

It’s likely that everyone realizes why pornography is a sin. It’s because Matthew 5:28 says, “But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” What people (men and surprisingly women) need is to develop self-control. Positive statements are made about this trait in the New Testament (Galatians 5:23; 2 Peter 1:6). Developing it means filling your heart with good things (Philippians 4:8), drawing close to God by prayer (James 4:8), and clearing your physical life of the temptations of the flesh like privacy and easy internet access (1 John 2:15). It won’t be easy leaving it behind, but it can be done through the gospel.
