Christmas Celebration Tomorrow

We invite you to a Christmas celebration tomorrow at 7:00 a.m. We will have sheep, donkeys and wise men on hand to set the mood. We will also have a special sermon on the Christmas season. Strange, you say? What would be wrong with having Christmas in April? What’s wrong with having it on Easter Sunday? There is as much authority in the Bible for celebrating Christ’s birth on Easter Sunday as there is on December 25-NONE! Likewise, there is the same amount of authority for having special Easter celebrations and services.

The Spirit said for us to do ALL in the name of Jesus–by His authority (Col. 3:17). Since there is no mention in the Bible about Christmas or Easter celebrations, there is no authority for them–they are lawlessness (1 Jn. 3:4; Matt. 7:21-23).

Are we against remembering the resurrection of our Lord? No! We remember it every week in the Lord’s Supper (Matt. 26:26-28; Acts 20:7). What we are against are the doctrines and commandments of men (Matt. 15:7-9). Christmas and Easter were both adopted from paganism. Paul warned about such things (Phil. 2:8, 20-23; Gal. 4:9-11).
