Get Out!

Have you found yourself practicing false religion and wonder what to do about it? You may be a member of the same church that your parents were — maybe not the same congregation, but the same overall church or belief system. As the years have passed, you realized things are being done that the Bible does not authorize: women preachers (1 Tim. 2:11-12); acceptance of homosexuals (1 Cor. 6:9-10); involvement in worldly activities (cp. Rom. 14:17); faith alone saved (Jas. 2:24); etc. Yet, you do not know what to do. The Bible says, “Get out!”

The Corinthians were having problems with erroneous religion. They were trying to mix the pure religion of Christ with idolatry. Paul wrote and told them:

Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will dwell in them And walk among them. I will be their God, And they shall be My people.” Therefore “Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you. I will be a Father to you, And you shall be My sons and daughters, Says the Lord Almighty” (2 Cor. 6:14-18).

To remain entangled with error is to dishonor Christ and turn your back on God. Your attendance bolsters their false beliefs and your financial contributions further their error. And, God will not accept you until you “come out from among them.”

It does not matter that the Corinthians were involved in outright paganism and you participate in a perverted form of Christianity — it is no Christianity at all. A departure from the truth is an error, the only difference being in degree. One sin condemns as well as 1,000 (Jas. 2:10). For instance, Paul denounced the Judaizers for teaching one erroneous doctrine — circumcision is essential to salvation (Phil. 3:2-3).

Therefore, if you realize you are involved with a religion that is in error, get out! Seek for those who are serving God according to the New Testament. If you would like assistance in this, contact us.
