How Men Are Drawn to Christ

There are many who believe men are drawn to Christ through gimmicks. They believe the best way to reach people with the gospel is by giving them what they want. In other words, entertain the masses, give them a show, something interesting, and they will come. True, they will come, but for what reason and to what end?

Jesus said, “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him…It is written in the prophets, ‘And they shall all be taught by God.’ Therefore everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me” (Jn. 6:44-45). Notice, men are drawn to God when they are taught. Paul said it is the gospel that is God’s power unto salvation (Rom. 1:16). That is, the truth is the instrument God uses to instruct men about Christ. God appeals to man’s intellect, not his appetite.

When men are drawn in by worldly, carnal appeals (entertainment, games, food, etc.) they are drawn for the wrong reason. It is very appealing, but in such cases, their religion is not based on truth, but fleshly desire (cf. Phil. 3:18-19).
