In Defense of God

It is time for believers to speak up in defense of God. God has been hijacked in the promotion of political and social causes which are diametrically opposed to God’s law. The word of God has been pulled and twisted like modeling clay in order to justify sin. The love of God has been redefined in an attempt to make God the author of unnatural practices.

How long will those who believe in the God of the Bible remain silent while God is ridiculed and marginalized by those who have no respect for Him? God is the creator (Genesis 1:1), and He gets to make the rules. He laid the foundations of the earth (Job 38:4); He created man (Genesis 1:27); and He established the boundaries of man’s habitation (Acts 17:26). God created man in His own image, but today, men want to remake God in their image. You just cannot do that. God is not a mythical character, He is the great I Am (Exodus 3:14). We do not have the right to change God to suit our ambitions, lusts, and preferences. Since God is the creator, He gets to tell us what to do. Men and women cannot simply disregard God’s word when they disagree with it or when they want to live some “alternate lifestyle.”

God’s ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8-9). The word of God compels men to think like God, not the other way around. The word of God tells us precisely what God thinks about every moral and doctrinal matter which affects man’s relationship with Him.

Men and women do not have the right to adopt a position that is the opposite of God’s, and then try to shoehorn His words into conformity with their alien position. God’s word is truth (John 17:17), opposing beliefs are not. God loves all men, but He hates sin. This statement is a fact that is taught throughout the Bible. God loved all men so much that He sent His only begotten Son to die and save men and women (John 3:16; Romans 5:6-11).

But, the same God who loves all mankind also hates sin (Proverbs 3:32; 6:16-19; 11:20). God is love (1 John 4:8), but God does not tolerate nor condone love which is vile passions and which is against nature (Romans 1:26-27). God’s word is settled in heaven (Psalm 119:89-91); it does not change by the year of the decade. The truth of the Bible is just as binding and relevant now as it was then. If the earth exists in another 1,000 years, men and women will be bound by the same laws. Mankind will never outgrow the Bible. It will always contain all of the truth that pertains to life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3).

We submit this defense of God, because it is right to do so, and because loud and strident voices want to marginalize God, to explain Him and His laws away, and to alter His teaching to suit popular sentiments. If you love God, do not be silent. Defend Him!
