Mission Accomplished

“Mission Accomplished!”

“To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus: Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily” (Colossians 1:27-29). Is it a dream to desire that every member of this congregation be perfect as a working, cooperating and integrated component? It is not a dream, because the Bible teaches that if the first priority of every member is dedicated to serving God and each other, they will live what Jesus taught in His sermon on the mount: “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you” (Matthew 6:33).

We can have that energetic spirit, if we love the bride of Christ and allow His word to dwell within us. Our light (or zeal) is set up where everyone can see our good works and glorify God, because zeal is the dynamo that generates spiritual energy for the Lord. “Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men” (1 Thessalonians 5:14).

Those who claim to love Christ, but fail to participate in Bible study each Sunday morning or Wednesday evening are sluggish in their love for Christ. It could be they are uninstructed or do not feel that they are missed. For them to be electrified and on fire, they must become liable, responsible, ac- countable and submissive to one another. The apostle Peter wrote, “Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble” (1 Peter 5:5). The congregation wants you to be this way and insist that others pursue the same righteous pattern.

Would anyone dare be pessimistic enough to say, “Mission Impossible?” If you have not given much thought to cherishing every Bible class and participating in every worship service, why not have a change of heart so we can say, “Mission Accomplished!” It can happen if you will join in and help others do the same! “From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love” (Ephesians 4:16).
