Portrait of a Prospect

Prospects are not strange creatures whom someone else finds and reports to the preacher. Prospects are real live people whom you meet every day. The grocery store clerk, the cosmetologist, the bank teller, the mail carrier, the school teacher, the close friend — all these may be people whom our congregation should reach with the gospel and with whom you should teach!

A prospect is a person who needs Jesus Christ as their Savior. This includes everyone within the range of your teaching who is not a Christian. Another type of prospect is a Christian who has moved to your community and who needs Jesus Christ.

A prospect is someone you know — not just any man, woman, or teenager — but a person with a name, feelings, and identity. Do you know a prospect? Invite them to study the Bible with you. Try to reach them and bring them into the realm of Jesus Christ.
