The news was tragic to read, but hardly a surprise. After years of hearing about priests who sexually abused altar boys, stories are finally breaking about priests who impregnated nuns and then forced them have abortions, contradicting the very religion they devoted their lives to serve. People, the devil is everywhere, ravenously feeding (1 Peter 5:8).
Do not be like the Pharisee who looked down on the sinner (Luke 18:9-14), but remember that temptation (and in this instance, sexual sin) is always “crouching at the door” (Genesis 4:7). Only those who “walk in the Spirit” will conquer the flesh and overcome (Galatians 5:16).
