The First Assembly of Games

Recently a local television station ran a story about the new game room at the First Assembly of God. Evidently, they are proud to have such things, but they should be ashamed (cp. Phil. 3:18-19).

Jesus shed His blood to purchase the church (Acts 20:28). Therefore, the church belongs to Him, not man. It is to be involved in the work that the Lord commands, not what man demands. Yet, there are those who are willing to do anything to draw a crowd and please men (cp. Gal. 1:10).

The Holy Spirit said, “the house of God, which is the church of the living God, [is] the pillar and ground of the truth” (1 Tim. 3:15). It is a spiritual institution with a spiritual mission. Yet, men have taken it and turned it into a social club that appeals to the carnal appetites of men. Instead of attracting and keeping people with the gospel of Christ, they use plays, pageants, food, and frolic (Rom. 1:16). Entertainment is the name of the game. Such shallowness only leaves people devoid of true spirituality, and, sadly, in their sins.
