The High Court Still Condemns Sodomy

No, not the nine people who wear black robes and sit on a bench in Washington, D.C. They recently overturned a Texas law that criminalized homosexual behavior. Rather, the true high court that is in heaven with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit on the “bench,” still condemns sodomy.

The high court condemns homosexual behavior in every manner possible. First, there is the example and necessary implication of Adam and Eve (Gen. 1:26-27; 2:24). God made a woman for man, not another man. Thus, God established the proper sexual relationship as the two become one flesh. The New Testament affirms this when it declares sexual immorality may be avoided by each man having his own wife and each woman having her own husband (1 Cor. 7:2). Men are not to take husbands; women are not to take wives.

Next, we read many explicit statements condemning homosexual behavior as sin.

“For this reason, God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due…who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them” (Rom. 1:26-27, 32).

“Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God” (1 Cor. 6:9-10).

Further, sodomites are militant. They have worked diligently to force their agenda on others; an agenda of approval, not just acceptance. In other words, they are not satisfied for others to just leave them alone (don’t ask, don’t tell), but insist others approve of their “lifestyle.” So it is with evil; aggressive and relentless (2 Tim. 3:13; cp. 1 Pet. 5:8).

Finally, Christians need to be just as militant, if not more so. Our children, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and brethren, yes brethren, need to be taught and reminded of the sinfulness of homosexuality. People need to learn again the example of Sodom and Gomorrah; “condemned to destruction ,… an example to those who would afterward live ungodlily” (2 Pet. 2:6). Therefore, let us consistently and persistently preach the gospel (Rom. 1:16).
