Your Value

The value of a man is measured in different ways by various people with diverse standards–money, health, knowledge, etc. Some believe if a man has little or no money, he is worthless. There is a segment of our society that says those in poor health are not worth anything, so they should be “euthanized” (murdered). Knowledge is highly esteemed by some; without it, you are nothing in their eyes. God has a different way of looking at things (Isa. 55:8-9).

Jesus said we are of more value than many sparrows (Matt. 10:31). He said a man’s soul is worth more than the whole world (Mk. 8:36). This is not based on a man’s knowledge, health or material wealth. It is based on the fact that man is made in the image of God (Gen. 1:26-27; Jas. 3:9).
Man is so valuable that God sent His Son to die for a man (Jn. 3:16). Jesus gave Himself for us. And we need to remember that He sacrificed Himself for each individual. Paul said He “gave Himself for me” (Gal. 2:20).

When you are feeling worthless, when the world is persecuting you, when life gets rough, remember that you are valuable. God believes it is so. Christ told you so. Won’t you believe it too?
