Among the women who gathered on the Sabbath by a river bank in Philippi to worship God was a woman named Lydia. She was a seller of purple from the city of Thyatira, and Lukehistorian records that she worshipped God and heard “us: whose heart the Lord opened to give heed unto the things which were spoken by Paul” (Acts 16:14).
